Στις 24 Ιανουαρίου 1979 κυκλοφορεί στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες Αμερικής το 1ο single των Clash. Πρόκειται για το τραγούδι I Fought The Law, μια διασκευή στη σύνθεση του Sonny Curtis που πρωτοτραγούδησαν οι Crickets του Buddy Holly το 1959 και έκαναν διάσημο το 1965 με την διασκευή τους οι Bobby Fuller Four.
